Dear Friends of DRU/M:

There is nothing more important than the safety and development of healthy children. In Baltimore there are many factors that negatively impact the life of children at birth. One of these factors is infant mortality which is defined as-the number of infants out of a total of 1,000 births who die before their first birthday. Another factor that often negatively impacts the health and development of children is low birth weight. Any infant born below 5 pounds 8 ounces is considered to be low birth weight.

DRU/Mondawmin Healthy Families has made a positive impact on the families in the communities that it supports (see statistics on next page). Yet, there is much more to do. We need your help so that we can reach more families to increase the safety and development of healthy children in Druid Heights, Reservoir Hill, Upton and Mondawmin communities in Baltimore City.
